Farm chores are messier on rainy days. There’s the mud. There’s the wet underbrush you have to run through and the rising creek you wade through while chasing escaped calves back through the hole in the fence. You get soaked to the knees if you’re lucky, and to the waist if you’re not. Eight or ten hours later, you have to do it all over again. Except then you have to round up the ducks, too.
On days like this, it’s easier to just peel off the chore pants and boots and let them dry out by the door until it’s time to go back out and deal with the mud again.
You’ve had days like this, too, haven’t you?
I so very much enjoy reading your blog – I’ll never have a farm life so I am living vicariously through your writing and your photography.
