With dozens of ducks running around, you’d think we’d be so over them. I thought I was over them, but this new hatchling changed my mind.

It knows it’s cute, too, with its speckled fluff and beak . . .
. . . and those speckled feet.
It’s the only duckling around at the moment, so its getting lots of attention. We take turns holding it.
Mia Cat wants to hold the duckling, too. Not a good idea.
It can be demanding.
It’s not obnoxious, but it peeps sweetly until it gets what it wants . . .
Just a little loving attention. A soft stroke. A warm snuggle.
Everybody needs love, even ducklings.
